In afternoon of October 17th, 2013, students of UL presented their ideas in Business Incubator of Faculty of Economics and Management of University of Latvia in order to obtain support from Business Incubator. In total 19 business idea applications were received, authors of 11 of them were accepted in Business Incubator.

This year UL students’ plans included ideas about manufacturing various clothing items and accessories, solutions for using electrical gadgets and internet security issues, new recreational travel services, as well as various sales and legal services. Alise Dūne tells about her idea – new solutions for design of thermo cups: „This idea occurred just month ago when as a part of study course we had to come up with new business ideas. My course mates encouraged me to implement the idea as straight after presentation of the idea almost everybody agreed that the idea could be successful. That is why straight after lecture I went to Mikus, head of Business Incubator, who suggested to apply with my idea and to join Business Incubator. I am a little scared of further process as to what and how has to be done but nevertheless I will go further with this idea”.  Business idea evaluation committee liked product proposed by Alise and possibly she will receive first orders soon. Also other ideas were evaluated successfully and from 15 business idea authors who presented their ideas, 11 were approved for participation in Business Incubator for a year. Other authors of business ideas were suggested to revise or add extra content to their service and to improve business plan. This year Business Incubator is going to operate with even bigger power compared to first year of operation when nine teams of new entrepreneurs were accepted one of which „Greynut” Ltd. with various solutions for indoor lighting will continue operating in business incubator this year too. Company LatvianFoods.com based on opinion of committee can continue working without support of incubator. Also other last year’s participants have decided either to carry on business without help of incubator or to search for other business ideas. UL FEM Business Incubator was founded in autumn of 2012 as support tool for student company start up.
