Professor Trond Randøy

Trond Randøy is Professor of International Business and Finance at University of Agder in Kristiansand, Norway. Professor Randøy has a PhD from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration and an MBA from the University of Oregon. 

His research interest focuses on Corporate Governance and International Business. He has authored more than 50 articles in journals such as; Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Corporate Governance: an International Review, Journal of Business Ethics Journal, and Journal of Banking and Finance. Professor Randøy has been leading several national and international research projects with both public and private funding.

Professor Randøy is currently serving on four corporate boards in Europe and Africa. He has over the last 25 years been a co-founder of several university-affiliated firms in Norway, in the US and in Tanzania. He has also served on supervisory boards of European and Asian NGOs.

Professor Pierpaolo MARANO

Pierpaolo Marano is a Professor of Commercial law at the Department of Legal Studies of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart – Milan, an Honorary Fellow at the Asian Institute of International Financial law of the University of Hong Kong and an Affiliate Professor at the University of Malta. He currently teaches Insurance Law and Regulation, and European Union Risk Governance Regulation. Graduated in Law at the Catholic University, Professor Marano holds a Ph.D. in Banking Law and Regulation from the University of Siena.

He is a scholar in residence at the University of Connecticut, School of law – Insurance law center and he was a Visiting Professor or Visiting Lecturer at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, National Taiwan University, Kozminski University (Warsaw), The Chinese University of Hong Kong - CFRED, University of Vilnius, Gujarat National Law University, Japanese Institute of Life Insurance, University of International Business and Economics (Beijing), Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, University of Exeter, University of Hong Kong - AIIFL, Universiti Selangor (Malaysia), Warsaw School of Economics, Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile, Universidad de Montevideo. 

He was appointed by European Commission as Senior Non-Key Legal Expert in the area of insurance to provide assistance to the National Bank of Serbia in harmonization of insurance legislation with Insurance Distribution Directive. Appointed by the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) as an academic representative at the Insurance and Reinsurance Stakeholder Group, from July 2018 to present, Pierpaolo Marano is also appointed by the IVASS (Italian Insurance Supervisory Authority) as a member of the Disciplinary Guarantee Committee, since January 2015. He is a “Collaborating Expert” in charge of the Evolving Liability work-stream at The Geneva Association since 2020.

He is the Director of the AIDA Europe Research Series on Insurance Law and Regulation, which is published by Springer, and he is serving as an Associate Editor of the European Insurance law Review, the review Assicurazioni and he served as an associate editor of the Journal of Insurance Issues in 2012-2014. He is the author of two monographs in Italian language, co-editor of three books in Italian language and five books in English language, as well as of eight conference proceedings in English Language, he has published more than one hundred academic papers in Italian, English and Spanish language.
